Mooching Monday – Take One

by Meghan on June 2, 2008

It all started when this was about to happen:
100_0076
(Dylan, Day 1)
And I needed a camera. You know, to document my child’s life. No biggie. My mom bought me a camera (GOOOO KODAK!). And it’s served it’s purpose. For the most part.

Then, THIS happened:
100_2638
Zach, Minute 2
Sweet, right? But wait a second…isn’t it a little bit blurry? GOOOO KODAK!

Okay, let’s try again:
100_2648
Zach, Hour 2
Well, that’s BETTER. But…different. A bit further away, not straight on, but at least it’s not blurry, right? GOOO KODAK!!!!

This one’s okay:
100_2635

But, let’s try to get one that’s better, and a little closer:
100_2783
Nope…still blurry. GOOO KODAK!

And remember the whole “Hoompback Whale” thing of last week? When DJ, Dylan and I were ALONE 6 miles out to sea and we were SURROUNDED by Humpback Whales? My pictures look like this:
100b6080
See that splash? That’s from a breaching Humpback. It was AWESOME. Sorry you missed it. Unfortunately, that’s what ALL my pictures look like because my camera was incapable of taking a photo at the right time. And NO, it didn’t have ANYTHING to do with the inability of the user.

The moral of the story is that I need want a new camera. I even asked for one in another post. And if you read Playgroups Are No Place For Children, then you know that Jennifer wants a new camera too. She wrote this not too long ago.

We’ve decided to work together, which is a MUCH better deal for me than it is for her, but SHHH-don’t remind her of that fact. Here’s the plan…every Monday we’re going to write something kindly requesting that one of the manufacturer’s of DSLR cameras send us a camera. In return, we will only have wonderful, glowing, kind, positive things to say about it and them. FOR.EVER. Hopefully we’ll wear them down (because you KNOW that Nikon, Sony & Canon totally read our blogs EVERY DAY) before we alienate all of you, our faithful readers. Have I told you how lovely you look today? Because you do. REALLY! You do!

And if you work for Nikon, Sony, or Canon and you’re here because you saw that some random Mommy blogger was linking to you and you wanted to find out what I was saying…Hi!! YOU look great today TOO! That’s a FABULOUS color for your skin tone. Oh, how it brings out your eyes. I wish I had a nice camera so I could take your picture to show you. If I used my camera to take your picture, you’d just be all blurry and bloated. It’s too bad, really. See? Now my lack of having a decent camera is going to ruin your day too…it’s just an unfortunate situation for us all.

And don’t worry, dear, lovely readers. Next week I’ll do it like Jennifer did today. Short & sweet. Maybe.

Just so you know, this post didn’t show up in Google Reader…

Did you do something with your feed?

And let me know WHEN this works because I NEED one, too.

Hiiiii, Sony! Hi Canon!!! Hello there, Nikon! Pentax? Is that you!

I just hit publish on it…it should be there shortly! Thanks for your concern…but shouldn’t you be packing, or breathing into a paper bag or something?

bwahaha – I could totally use a new camera, too. Just because – who DOESN’T need a new camera? Except for maybe Pioneer Woman. Because she seems to have an awesome one already…

Haha!! I’m in the same position- I love cameras {I have a small collection but I only use one for the most part}, I mean I love taking pictures too, of course. Right now I am on the lookout for my perfect DSLR. *sigh*
For what it’s worth- I loved my Canon camera, but I looove my Sony more. I haven’t tried Sony’s DSLR {uuh, totally willing to review one here, just for the record!!} but the point and shoot I have is wonderful. Easy to use, sturdy {except for the battery keeper inner tab, which broke after more action than it should have gotten} and the Carl Zeiss lens is, in my opinion, incomparable to most others. My mom has a Fuji FinePix that I think is great too, but it’s geared to more novice users, if that’s not where your level is, it can be agitating. :/
Is my nerd showing? Sheesh, it got a little drafty. :|

I hope Canon responds to you (and Jennifer) because I am in love with my Canon Rebel!! LOVE!

I’m thinking of kicking hubby out of the martial bed and sleeping with it, that is how much I love it. Plus…it doesn’t snore.

Good Luck!!

I totally have camera envy. I have a little snappy clicky one but I’d love a lushious zoomy nifty one. I just posted a picture of rust that came out all blurry. And the rust was important!

Yes, so this is one of the reasons why it sucks not to have me in charge of the WORLD. Really, if I was I would remedy this in a click of my mouse. Since I am not in charge of the WORLD (and no one has offered me the position), I hope this plan B works for you.

OK, now after I admire my words in all CAPITAL LETTERS. I got to get me some of this FONT. LOVELY, lovely.

Oh, ya I am in desperate LUST after your share /save button at the end of each post. Can you please let me know how you did that? That is exactly what I have been looking for and since I am not in charge of the WORLD yet…
