She’s a Maniac, Maniac with the Yarn

by Meghan on January 15, 2009

And she’s crocheting like she’s never crocheted before.

DUDES.  I’ve officially lost my mind.  I’m a woman obsessed.  With yarn.  I can’t get enough.  And each time I find new yarn and make something out of it, it becomes my new favorite thing EVER.  I spend time perusing the goods at this site because, OMG, how awesome are their photos?!  Don’t you want to buy one of everything?!  Imagine the possibilities! They’re limitless!

NO?  You DON’T want to buy one of everything?!  It’s just me then?  Well FINE.  That leaves more for me.

Here are a few of my recent purchases…

And a few of my creations:

And some close-ups, because…why not:

This one is made from Bamboo.  Seriously.  It’s the softest thing EVER.

Hand-Dyed Cotton yarn from Chile:

This one’s wool.  It’s GORGEOUS.

And…because it’s fun.  I have to add a face and two more legs, but how cute is he?  Or she?

And now I must go finish what I’m currently working on. And then start something new.  And then start something else after that.

Those came out awesome Meghan! It’s so much fun to find new projects. Love the giraffe. I was thinking about the octapus they had on Lion’s Brand since I knit and don’t crochet.

Oh those are awesome. Really I’d buy that little giraffe dude. He’s adorable. Maybe you should set up an etsy site. And then when you make money, you could come to BlogHer.

See I have a one track mind. But those are beautiful scarfs.

Mmm….bamboo is SOOOO soft! I LOVE the colors in the wool one, and super-love the giraffe! J would adore it as an addition to her menagerie. Are you opening an Etsy store?? You’ve been so productive!! I tried knitting when I was pregnant and didn’t get very far with it. I should try again. I always love hand knitted/crocheted stuff and WISH I could do it.

You have impressed and inspired me! :-)

I think my mom would like to trade daughters with your mom. She has been wanting to teach me to crochet for years. Mostly because she’s tired of making scarves and blankets for me.

They are lovely. That colorful wool is just gorgeous. And I’m thinking my mom is going to need to make me a bamboo scarf next!

That giraffe is adorable! You know, you never sent me the guess the location prize from when you were in San Diego. Or any BlogHER swag. So I’m pretty sure I deserve a giraffe or a scarf or SOMETHING! Right?

Those yarns are delicious! I want to get some of the silk for a shawl but it would be the most expense shawl I ever owned if I did.

You should move to a climate where you could wear a nice sweater, mittens, hat, and scarf. I volunteer to swap houses with you.

I wish I could knit. Not learn to knit, just load the softwear and know how. Like they did in The Matrix.

Very impressive!!

You need to teach me how to properly crochet with bamboo — the last time I tried I ended up spending the next week digging splinters out of my fingers.

Two points…

1. Your crotcheting looks awesome. Nice work!

2. Step away from the yarn. Seriously. Shower. Eat. Play with your kids. ;)

I spend every waking moment thinking about yarn myself sooo you are definitely not alone! One suggestion–make dishcloths and washcloths with cotton yarn, they are not only the most useful cloths but making them is also very very addicting…
