Part of me was hoping we’d hate the floor plan, hate the smell, hate SOMETHING about the house.
But we didn’t. We actually REALLY, REALLY, REALLY like it.
Of fucking course.
I could SEE us in it. I could imagine where our furniture would go, what the walls would look like with our pictures hung on them. Or, really, even what it would look like WITH walls. Cause, you know, first things first.
And if we were buying it outright and applying for a normal mortgage, we could make it work. But because it’s unfinished construction, they actually expect us to be able to afford to finish it.
Bastards.
Which means that we have to get a construction loan, which means that we have to add a shitload of money to the price. The price we could just afford now, but when you tack on an extra shitload, it makes it…harder.
Which really, really, really, really, really sucks because this house is in an area where, in a few years, it will be worth a pretty penny. And we’ll be driving by it kicking ourselves because we missed out on the opportunity.
Even Zach liked it!
Oh well. Hopefully something like this will be waiting for us when the timing is right.
Secretly, though, I’ve got my hopes pinned on the lottery drawings tonight!

I hope something happens and you’re magically able to afford it. I could totally see you in that house too.

I understand! My husband and I went through finding a house, applying for mortgage but glitches kept coming up and all of a sudden my due date was around the corner . After lots of reconsidering we considered it wasn’t meant to be. Good luck!!!

Oh I have been there. Real estate desire is tough. There is one house in my neighborhood that I would sell my first born for. (not really) Seriously. We could almost afford it, but not really. My level headed husband is able to keep his emotions out of it, and be realistic. I still can’t drive down that street because it’s just too painful to see someone else in my house.
Oh well. I can’t complain because we’re turning our lovely house into something amazing.
I feel your pain and I won’t play the lottery tonight so you have a better chance at winning.

We are in the house hunting situation also – maybe we can pool our money !
I like to cling to the hope and prayer that “everything happens for a reason” whenever I don’t get my wish.

Wait, they won’t just let you buy it and live in tents in it until you finish it? Jerks.
You’ll find one Meghan. When it’s the right time, you guys will find one.
Unless…the Lotto??

Walls and electricity are so 2008. I don’t see why they won’t let you get it. Bastards.

I’m gonna be honest……that really blows!
That house has such hidden potential!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the lotto drawing. If you win, could you send a little extra our way so we can get out of the craphole we rent! KThanksBye!

The house of your dreams will be there when the time is right.
It totally sucks though. I found my “perfect” house about a year and a half ago, but damn the mortgage company for not approving a mortgage. My credit score was a tad too low for their liking. I’m still an apartment renter but one day I know I’ll have my credit up to their standards and a homeowner I will be.
I know that you will get your “dream” house soon too!
XOXO

I pray that I can move into a “new construction” home soon. Our house was built in 1905…. it’s a horrible floor plan. Me no likey.
Anyway, looks like it’s time to put up a donation ticker for your down payment!

Keep looking though and the ONE will come along!!!!!! Best of LUCK:)

Hey, I’m winning the lottery drawings tonight— back off!!
Sounds wonderful though. Sigh.
Yesterday I drove by an abandoned new construction in more rural part of Boulder, it was beautiful and I instantly thought of you. I’ll have to find the link and send it to you.
Great vision, but I have to think if you win the lottery would you really buy a house that needs so much construction. I say move into a place that’s good to go and spend the cash on pool boys.

I know exactly that feeling.
I saw a house that had walls and all, but needed some major repair and upgrade work that would require an additional construction loan that I’m just not up to. But I totally saw me and G there, our bedrooms and our play area and our kitchen and a little fenced in yard. It sucks to have to pass it up, but like BurghBaby told me on my blog, the perfect place IS out there, it just may take some time to find it.
Good luck.

Oh, that sucks. To really, really like it just isn’t fair.
Keep trying the lottery. That is what I would do. If I could buy a ticket. So, since I don’t have a ticket, I give you permission to keep buying tickets and go ahead and win. You know, so I could live vicariously through you. It works.
