We have…a lot…going on lately.
Besides the pregnancy, which has left me incapable of functioning like a normal human for the past six weeks, we’ve also come to a point where we were forced to make another huge life change.
We’re moving in 6 days. MOVING. Out of our house and in with my in-laws. Lucky for us, they have a large house with a huge yard, and we get along. Which will make things a bit easier.
We’ll be spending the week there and coming back to our house (an hour north) on Saturday afternoons after Dylan’s t-ball game.
You see, we plan on renting our house out once we’re finished with all the renovations/remodel stuff we have yet to complete. And until our house is rented out, we can’t get our own home. Because, believe it or not, we can’t afford two house payments a month. Shocking, I KNOW.
So, we will spend our week in lovely Santa Barbara, and make the long-ass drive every Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening. We’ll spend a day and a half working feverishly to get our house in rentable condition. And then lather, rinse and repeat.
I’ve put a 5 month time limit on this insanity, as I refuse to give birth and bring a newborn home to someone else’s house. I will need my own space. And? Dylan starts kindergarten (gah) this fall and I have to have a permanent address in order to register him. As it stands, there are any number of elementary schools in the area and I don’t know which school we will be living near. To save myself stress induced hypertension during the last few months of my pregnancy, we HAVE to be settled in our “own” home by mid-July.
HAVE TO.
So, please excuse me while I lose my mind in the next few days. I have a lot of shit to do in order to be able to get us packed up and moved. The only positive to this process is that I don’t have to pack my entire house right now. I only need the items we will need on a daily basis. The rest can stay behind and be weeded through and packed up over the next few months.
I’d ask you to send wine, but…I can’t drink it. So maybe send chocolate instead?

I moved once while 19 gazillion months pregnant. Not. Fun. The only good part was that I couldn’t actually lift anything so I got to direct the move. Still. Not. Fun.

Dude. That is a LOT of upheaval to happen all at once. Wow. You’re not allowed to take xanax when you’re pregnant either, are you? Yeesh.
Good luck! Hoping you get the house all fixed up & rented faster than you expect, so y’all can get settled in your own new space soon.

Yeesh. And to think, I was whining about having to pack up an office to make room for a nursery. Good luck!
Are you insane? At least you have ILs you like. That alone would earn you a year supply of wine.

You poor thing! I hope everything stays on track… f it doesn’t, don’t sweat it. It will be how it will be, right? Still, I do not envy you, woman. I’m sending you the “quick renting/good renters” vibes your way.
And at the risk of getting al squashed out here in cyber-land, have a wee glass of wine if you want it. Sorry. I’m a bad mother…

Wow, that’s a lot for an exhausted pregnant woman to deal with. Sending chocolate stat! Here’s hoping the place is in tip top shape and rented before you know it.
We are actually in the process of getting our place ready to sell. Should go up in a couple of weeks. It actually didn’t take as long as I thought it would so hopefully you discover the same thing

WOW. That is a lot. Good luck! You are lucky to have in-laws that are willing to let you move in and that you can stand to be around enough to do it.
Oh my gosh, what a change. I hope that you have good in-laws so this isn’t going to be totally awful for you or anything. And that things go well getting the house ready! I’ll pray for things to be done quicker than planned!
We moved into our house when I was 7 months pregnant. I hope you don’t get the Pregnant Stupids. My sister had to pack up my whole kitchen because every time she asked a question, I was completely useless.
Hoping for a quick rental!

You really can’t afford two house payments? You should be ashamed. (: I can’t even afford ONE – which is why I’m stuck in an apartment. lol
You sure do have a lot going on during your pregnancy. Be sure to take time for yourself, and let the hubs worry about most of this crap. After all, your current job of creating life is much more important.
About the wine thing – no, you can’t drink wine. BUT, I do have some good news. There are certain anti-anxiety meds that are considered safe during pregnancy. Talk to your physician. They did take me off of my beloved Xanax, but provided me with it’s not-so-potent sister, Klonopin.
It’s so totally awesome that you get along with your in-laws. That would be utter hell for me. I can’t even think about it without getting a nervous twitch.

Oh, Meghan! God bless you!
I have been living with my freaking in-laws for 8 months awaiting our new home which is being built. (We move in mid April)
It has been an annoyance to say the least, but there were many good things….help with my son, not having to pay a sitter to go out, we saved lots of money, etc.
My husband and I have consumed so much wine during this experience that it’s completely absurd. We’ve saved all of the corks and plan to display them in a beautiful shiny vase in our new home. “Ya know….so we can tell the grandkids about our awful ordeal one day;) 9 months living with your MIL is just too long.
Congrats on #3!!
oh my goodness!! What is it about a new baby coming that prompts us to throw everything into chaos? We have two sons, we did two major remodels after I was 6 months pregnant..because that is just good sense.
congrats on the new baby! good luck with the moving and and remodeling!

Hey, I missed the announcement post! Congratulations!!! So darn exciting! I had #3 while living at my moms and renting out our house. Almost the same thing as you are doing, but not quite. We had two kids, expecting the third. Realized there is no way we could buy a larger house unless we rented out the house we currently owned and then saved our money for a down payment on a bigger house. So, we sucked it up and moved back in with mom. @@ You know, it wasn’t so bad. We had a two-year-plan. Two years turned into two and a half, but that was only because we were in a really bad car accident and needed to stay a bit longer. But we did manage to save a lot of money and bought a new, larger home for us. So it all worked out just how we planned it. Baby #3 had to share her first room with #1 and #2 for 2 years…but looking back, we really have some good memories of that time.
Good luck with your move, and I’m thrilled to hear you are expecting!
Wow that is a lot! It may not seem like it now, but the next few months will fly by, and then just think – you’ll be in a beautiful new home, have an adorable new baby, your son will be starting kindergarten, and you’ll be able to pour a glass of wine whenever you want
It all works out…
Best wishes!
Oh my, what a time to move! You crazy woman. Best wishes it is a smooth and easy transition and works out quickly!
