When I left you last, which was two weeks ago now thanks to a forgotten charger dongle (don’t even ask, just know that it’s the stupidest word EVER in the history of words and my computer doesn’t work very well without it), we were discussing our favorite shows from the 80′s.
And HOO BOY did you guys ever come through. Reading your comments kept me entertained for days and days. Like, more entertained than it probably should have. Or, than I should probably admit here. *cough*
Anyway, in case some of you missed all the comments, I thought I’d list a few of my favorites that popped up. I’ve even done some research to jog your memories a bit:
- Alf – Gordon Shumway from the planet Melmac!
- Rags to Riches – Why would a single “playboy bachelor” be allowed to adopt six teenage girls? HELLO, PEDOPHILE
- Rescue 911 – I can still recite the intro. No, seriously. I still know all the words. Even some of the 911 calls they play after The Shat is done with his part. “There’s someone on my house!”
- Valerie/The Hogan Family – Remember when they killed her off in a car accident and the Aunt Sandi came to live with them? And the two twin brothers who were total opposites? And Jason Bateman. Sigh.
- Mr. Belvedere – Bob Uecker! And Mr. B was kinda like the original blogger with his journal writing.
- Murder She Wrote – Jessica Fletcher…man, she was bad luck. How many people were killed in her vicinity? Dude. You’d think that town would have kicked her to the curb at some point.
- Perfect Strangers – Larry and Balki! We do the Dance of Joy!
Okay, so these are my top picks for best (worst?) shows of the 80′s, in no particular order.
Next time, maybe we’ll talk about the songs we listed to when we were tweens…and what got us into trouble with our parents. Start thinking now…

While all the shows listed were some of my favs, I’m sad to see that Small Wonder didn’t make it onto the list. But, there are worse things going on in the world
Anyhoo, I was really excited to see you asked for songs that got us into trouble… #1 on my list would have to be “Talk Dirty to Me” by Poison. Bret Michaels pretty much looks the same now as he did back then (thanks to botox, spray tans and hair extensions) but man, that song was totally rad… sigh.
Along with half the shows you listed, I also loved China Beach in the 80′s. :] That show doesn’t get enough attention.
