If you’ve been following the news, or the Weather Channel, you might know that Southern California is currently experiencing a “significant weather event.” For those of you not well versed in Southern CA “significant weather,” it could either mean that it’s sprinkling outside or the world is coming to an end.
Around these parts, those two things are usually one and the same.
Rain! Half an inch! Build an arc! Break out the canoe! MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, SAVE THE CHILDREN!
Seriously, that’s how bad it can be.
We get a storm and the news stations cover it 24/7 with scary music intros and titles like “STORM WATCH 2011″ or “STORMPOCALYPSE 2011.”

And they show the radar every 5 minutes and have reporters stationed at the beaches and the malls to record the mayhem that ensues.
And people are like “I’ve never seen rain like this! My Prius windshield was so difficult to see out of!” and “The waves were so high that they nearly reached the back door of my multi-million dollar beach front home!”
QUE HORROR!!1!!!!!1
Anyway, this storm we have right now is producing some pretty heavy rain and wind.
Even for, like, real world standards.
When I picked the boys up from my in-laws house today, there was even some pretty significant storm damage.
How much more will we have to endure?! I’m not even sure that the Ficus will survive.
I will, of course, keep you all updated. In the meantime, please keep us, and the Ficus, in your thoughts.

Dude, I sat in traffic for 3 hours because of rain today. It was clearly the end of the world. What else could explain how a tiny bit of water incapacitated every driver in Los Angeles?

LOL!
We get the reporters posted at every intersection for snow storms. Thing is, they’re there before the first flakes even fly and just stand there looking ridiculous for about 12 hours.

Oh my. Let’s hope the elements show mercy, at least on your poor benighted ficus. What has it ever done to deserve such ignominy?

Quick! Rampage, stock up on toilet paper and pop tarts. Fill the tub with water! Candles! Batteries! Generator! I hear running with your hands in the air also helps.
