Random Asides

Let’s just get right into it, shall we?

• Remember the other day when I asked if Brothers could be friends? Most of you were like “HELL NO! Enjoy the next 15 years, sucker!”  Which, thanks for the support.  Truly.  Also, I put them into the bathtub last night and added 4x the recommended amount of bubbles and you know what? They got along.  For a solid 30 minutes.  Now I need to invest in bubble bath.
• Also, just how long can boys stay in a tepid bath before it starts to cause skin problems or hypothermia?  2 or 3 hours, hopefully.
• Ollie has decided that, at almost 8 months old, he is no longer interested in breastfeeding. If I try to nurse him, he is easily distracted and complains the entire time. Offer him a bottle and it’s as if he found out he won the Mega Millions jackpot.  So.
• I am conflicted about this situation. On the one hand, YES! No more nursing bras! And I can officially “diet” and try to lose the last few remaining pounds of baby weight. On the other, BOO! No more breastfeeding. I can’t pump enough to keep him fed, so formula it is. And formula is WAY more expensive than breast milk.
• He has also decided that he should be able to eat whatever it is we are eating. Bacon Burgers, Salad, Tacos, Crock Pot Chicken.  I’ve relented on a few things. Turns out he’s a huge fan of Mexican Rice and Guacamole. Smart boy.
• Dylan has something like five weeks left of Kindergarten. FIVE WEEKS.  He is nervous about starting First Grade. I am excited about the upcoming Summer break.
• And also First Grade, because he’ll be in school until 2:50pm.  I’m not sure why, but it seems like that will make life so much easier. Less hectic.
• I remember when he started Preschool two half days a week and I was devastated to not have him with me. Oh, how times have changed.
• You’ll be happy to know (mom) that my weird obsession with the eagles has faded. A bit. I check in on them for a minute or two every couple of days. But that’s it. I promise.
• We’ve decided that we’re going to try to move. Again.  Not far, maybe about a mile or so from where we are now. To the neighborhood where our friends live. So the kids can all be in school together, so we can walk to and from our each other’s houses.  It’s the neighborhood we’d like to buy in eventually, so moving there sooner rather than later makes sense.  Fingers crossed we can find an appropriate rental in the next few months. The inventory is tight over there.
• This weekend is busy. Friday night is our Preschool Fundraiser. I’m on the Committee, so Friday I’ll be busy prepping and then partying. DJ isn’t going with us because he has to play in his Softball team’s Championship game. Then, Ollie and I will head out first thing Saturday morning for Los Angeles for the March for Maddie (there’s still time to donate!), and DJ leaves for a two day golf tournament. Grandma Pam will have Zach and Dylan and will be on duty for Dylan’s T-Ball game. Hopefully Sunday will bring some downtime and hanging out with friends.
• And now it’s time to get off the couch and finish cleaning up from yesterday’s Brunch. And by finish, of course I mean start, because yesterday afternoon consisted of sitting on the couch playing games on my phone. Obviously.
