Toothless

by Meghan on May 16, 2011

After a long week of wiggling, freaking out, crying, hiding, more wiggling and much gnashing of teeth (pun totally intended) Dylan lost his first tooth on Saturday afternoon. I assisted its removal by getting my thumb nail underneath of it and gently pulling it out. Dylan had no idea and still thinks I was simply wiggling. I’m pretty sure if he found out that I had done more than our agreed upon wiggling, he would never let me near another loose tooth. Ah, the things we do for our kids.

And, to prove that he really is growing up, he didn’t have any qualms about the Tooth Fairy coming. Previously, had we told him that someone was going come into his room while he slept, he would have freaked the freak out and spent the next week in our bed every night. But no, the big bad 6 year old calmly placed his tooth underneath his pillow and went right to sleep. He was even EXCITED about the Tooth Fairy’s arrival.

Maybe he’s just more comfortable with the thought of a cute woman in a tutu coming into his room than he is a fat man in a red suit and a creepy beard. Can’t really blame him, I suppose.

Anyway, bright and early on Sunday morning he came into our room clutching the money that the Tooth Fairy had left. She had been *extra* generous and left him a $20 bill! Which left us explaining that she usually leaves a lot more money for a first tooth than she does for the remaining teeth.

He thought about this for a second and said “So maybe next time she’ll leave me $19?”

We’re so screwed.

Dude. Can I loose a tooth at your house? ;)

Our tooth fairy leaves about $5 for the first tooth and about $2 after that. I’m not telling my kids they were assigned the cheap tooth fairy, they’ll want a replacement. :)

Wow, your Tooth Fairy is a wealthy young woman, my kids out £1 per tooth. Of course it has been a while since they were that age but inflation sure is tough.

Wow, can I come sleep at your house, I’ll knock out all my teeth for that toothfairy. You’re setting high standards for all of us. Hope he picks out something extra special.
