Sleep Strike

After Wednesday’s emotional breakdown, things started to look up. Copious amounts of caffeine helped to lift the fog and Ollie was in a fabulous mood, which made it hard to hold a grudge against him. Also, he’s just a baby, so grudge holding is kind of douchey anyway.

Plus, he spent most of the day like this:

Chilling Out

It’s hard to be mad at a baby with a beer belly who has perfected the art of lounging.

Then, parental guilt kicked in big time in the afternoon, and we decided we couldn’t send him to his Grandma’s for the night. So we kept him here and prepared ourselves for the potential of another long and difficult night.

It's hard to be mad at this face. Especially with a nose like that.

Of course, it was a thousand times better than we thought it was going to be. There was one waking up incident around 11:30pm that involved Zachary once again crying that his leg hurt. Unfortunately, his wanking woke up Ollie, who was none too pleased. I felt the same way.

I gave Zach some Motrin and an ice pack and threatened him lovingly cajoled him back to sleep. Ollie was starting to wake up a bit more at that point, so I hightailed it back to bed with him, and after a rocky 5 minutes, he too fell back to sleep. I returned him to his crib and we all slept for the rest of the night.

I should say, DJ almost slept for the rest of the night, but he had to be at a job site at 6:30am, so he got up and left early. I forgot that he wouldn’t be here with his alarm, and ended up sleeping until 7:38am, a mere 20 minutes before we had to leave to get Dylan to school. Whoops.

Last night was, once again, not awful. Zach slept all night, Ollie woke up once for a drink of water and then went back to bed. Hopefully the trend will continue.

Tahoe the Wonder Dog

I realized I never really updated about Tahoe’s status. Following four days at the vet, to the tune of a RIDICULOUS amount of money, he came home last Friday evening.

Not because he’d passed whatever it was that was stuck inside him, but I think the Vet realized I was going to lose my mind if he needed to stay there for the weekend. He’d been showing signs of improvement. He was acting as if he felt fine and he had an appetite. The many expensive x-rays were showing that whatever was in his intestines was moving, getting smaller and that other things in his intestines were getting passed it. All signs pointed to a full recovery.

And since then? He’s been fine. He’s eating, pooping and being as annoying and obnoxious as ever. Of course, now it seems that he might have an ear infection. Because, obviously.

I was also able to do some online shopping. Retail therapy always helps. So, things are starting to look up. Thank goodness, because I really thought I was going to lose my mind at one point.

Oh! And, I just signed a contract for a new writing gig, which I’ll tell you all about shortly. I’m excited about it. And not just because it’s going to allow me to have the boys Great Grandma come in once a week so I can escape the house to get some writing done without kids around. That’s just an added bonus! Yippee!

I’ve red your previous post, and was waiting for the updates… It’s a good thing that Ollie is not on a sleep strike anymore, cause I agree it’s a nightmare (been there, done that :( ). Good luck on the new writing gig, now you definitely need the sleep!

I agree with the sleep strike thing. They can be very annoying when they do that. Specially in the middle of the night. My daughter use to do that too and it just stop recently.

The baby is so adorable and cute. I agree that how can you get mad with a cute little kid in front of you smiling.
