Daydream Believer

by Meghan on November 22, 2011

As things move along with the house remodel, I find myself lost in thought about what it’s going to be like when it’s finally all DONE. In another 87 years. Give or take.

I have grand plans, people. Big. Huge.

I see myself spending all day long in the kitchen, cooking and baking. Of course, my laptop will have its own little spot on the counter, and, with the new open design, I’ll be able to keep an eye on the boys and see the TV as well. How perfect is that? I look through Pinterest and as I bookmark recipes I can almost see myself making them. I can even see myself cleaning up afterwards, which, if you know me, is a big deal. I literally can not wait to be able to cook and bake again. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m getting sick of fast food and pizza. And it’s only going to get worse…when we finally start to redo the kitchen and I’m limited to a microwave, crock pot and toaster oven. Ack.

I’m also busy planning, in my head, the MEGA HUGE AWESOME HouseFinished party that I’m going to have when it’s finally done. This may or may not end up being lumped together with the MEGA HUGE AWESOME Christmas Party I want to throw next year.

We shall see what happens. At this point, I really shouldn’t get too ahead of myself, seeing as we still don’t have walls or, like, toilets in half of our house. But eventually we will! And it’s going to be awesome. Hopefully.

After today, Dylan’s out of school for the rest of the week. I am thoroughly looking forward to the long weekend. Hopefully we can get a bunch of stuff done and, honestly, not having to get up and out the door at 8:00am sounds divine. I can’t wait for Winter Recess next month. And not just because we don’t have to get up and out the door at 8:00am for a few weeks…we’re going to Disneyland with my family. It’s going to be SO MUCH FUN. And around that time, we should also be getting our flooring in. Installing it ourselves is going to be a huge process, but, aside from walls, I think it’s going to make the biggest difference. Both visually and mentally.

Speaking of the house, I updated From Demo to Dream the other day with a post about my Master Bedroom. It’s a lot of fun to think about, and I can’t wait to see it all come together. I’m no interior decorator, but I’m trying. We’ll see how well that works out for me in the end.

And over at Babble, I put together a fun list of the 10 Worst TV Role Models for Kids…it was a lot of fun to come up with. I also put together a list of our family’s favorite Kids books…ones that you might not have in your collection already.

Now I’m going to head back to Pinterest to daydream a little more. Thankfully, it’s a wealth of knowledge for stuff I *can* cook right now. Like this crock pot chicken that I’m going to make for dinner tonight.
