I bought Dylan a telescope for Christmas. He seems to be developing a bit of an interest in astrononmy, so I thought that it would be something to encourage. You know, because a kid can only play so many DS and Wii games in one day.
Also, I am kind of in love with the idea of sitting in the backyard under a starry sky. When we have a backyard that’s worth sitting in, of course. I haven’t figured out what to do with the utility pole and wires running across half of our skyward view, but I’ll come up with something.
Anyway, someone on Facebook linked to an MSNBC article about the 12 top skywatching events of 2012, so I quickly clicked on it and set reminders in my phone for all the ones I want to be sure to catch. I’m not sure I’m going to get my ass outside for all of them, but it’s fun to at least plan for.
