Where Do They Come Up With This Stuff?

by Meghan on February 4, 2013

Every week Zachary’s teacher sends home a newsletter about what they’ve been working on, and what they’ll be doing the next week. On the back side of the letter she does a little “interview” with one of the kids. It’s called “Personality of the Week,” and it is adorable. It’s fun to see what the kids say about themselves and their families. I have been eagerly anticipating Zachary’s turn because, as many of you know, that kid has personality to spare and I was sure his contribution would be awesome.

Well. He was personality of the week on Friday and let me tell you, he didn’t disappoint.

Part of the interview includes the child’s favorite recipe. Zach and I made smoothies on Monday, and he was eagerly asking me how they were made. I even had the thought that he *might* be personality of the week soon, and how awesome was that timing, because I would look like an awesome mother if he chose to share a smoothie recipe!

Because, obviously, it’s all about me.

WELL, the universe registered that thought and laughed in my face. It turns out that last week was Zach’s turn as personality of the week, and a smoothie was NOT the recipe he chose to share. He also revealed a few things about himself that I hadn’t known before!

Personality of the Week

Note 1: The cat’s name is actually spelled Bizzie, which is short for Bizzle. As in “for shizzle my bizzle.” I’m incredibly glad that Zach doesn’t know that.

Note 2: Apparently we are watching too much “Wicked Tuna”

Note 3: DJ’s parents are going on a hunting trip to Alaska in September. Apparently Zach wants to go along, as well. But if you were to explain to him that you’d have to kill an actual animal, he would most likely burst into tears. So.

Note 4: Every time I “make” him a frozen burrito, he tells me I make the best burritos. I’ll take what I can get.

Wow. Happy well rounded kid with great answers. When my youngest, “The Prince” was featured as student of the month at his school a couple years ago, I was thrilled and nearly ran off the road to get to the school and see the publicly posted picture and interview that they hang at the front entrance. Imagine my disappointment when every single answer was, “my dad”.. As in, my favorite person is MY DAD, when I grow up I want to be MY DAD, when I play I pretend I am MY DAD, my super hero is MY DAD, my best times are when I can act like MY DAD… I was so furious I wanted to rip it down because I am a super grown up adult who isn’t narcissistic and a raging attention needing mom. I contained my tears until I got in the car and cried all the way and called my husband to tell him I was going to turn into a geek and show up late at baseball games, and stop laying out his clothes and packing lunches, and scooting over so we can cuddle as we watch Nemo or Monsters Inc for the 700th billion time that day. I was over it ( NOT) when he got home from school and as I gave him his snack I said I saw the nice things you said about Daddy, that probably makes him feel really good, and special. The Prince gave me a big hug and said, ” yeah I want to be just like Dad, that way I can marry someone just like you and smile and laugh every day”… He was forgiven and went ahead and cut the crust off his bread and carved his carrots into totem poles like he likes.. Best kid ever…

Gah I must be extra hormonal today or something. Because the cuteness of Zach’s post made me tear up a bit but then reading this comment really made me cry lol.
